FOR PROFESSIONALS
Private clarity work for women whose relationship decisions become harder to hold under emotional pressure.
Some clients already have the information they need. They understand the advice clearly in the room. The difficulty is what happens afterwards, when contact with their partner or former partner resumes and the emotional pressure of the relationship starts changing how they interpret what they already know.
They may delay.
They may second-guess.
They may soften a position they had already reached.
They may struggle to hold what they already seemed to understand.
You have already done the legal work. You should not also have to keep rebuilding the client’s clarity every time contact knocks it down.
That is where The Override Method® is relevant.

WHEN TO CONSIDER A REFERRAL
A referral may be appropriate when a client appears to understand the advice but struggles to hold that clarity once the emotional pressure around the relationship returns.
You may recognise this when a client says:
"I was clear after the meeting, but now I'm not sure anymore."
"He messaged me afterwards and now I'm wondering if I'm overreacting."
"I know what we discussed made sense, but things feel different now."
"Maybe I've made it sound worse than it is."
"Sorry, I know I keep changing my mind."
"It's not that straightforward."
You may also recognise it in the work that starts building around the advice itself — repeating the same reassurance, steadying a client before court or mediation, or helping her return to a position she had already reached before contact changed it again.
This can arise before separation, during legal proceedings, mediation, or when the client has not yet decided what she wants to do. She does not need to have reached a final decision before the work may be relevant.
WHAT THE OVERRIDE METHOD® SUPPORTS
The Override Method® is private work for women who can recognise what is happening in the relationship, but find themselves losing trust in their own judgement once that relationship pressure returns.
The work focuses on what happens when a woman reaches a position, understands advice, or recognises part of the pattern, but then begins doubting, softening or reversing that position once contact, guilt, hope, fear or responsibility returns.
Rather than telling her what decision to make, the work helps slow that recurring pattern down so she can see more clearly where her certainty changes and what happens immediately before she begins overriding her own judgement.
The aim is not to determine whether she should stay, leave, settle, proceed or change position.
It is to help her understand the pattern affecting her judgement and strengthen her ability to hold onto her own clarity when pressure returns.
A DISTINCT, BOUNDED PIECE OF WORK
The Override Method® does not replace therapy, legal advice, financial advice, mediation, safeguarding or specialist domestic abuse support.
It does not organise a divorce, manage a legal case or determine a client’s legal or negotiating position.
It sits alongside appropriate professional support and focuses specifically on the point where relationship pressure begins interfering with a woman’s ability to trust and hold her own judgement.
Where immediate needs include crisis support, safeguarding, specialist domestic abuse support or acute mental-health care, appropriate specialist services come first.
PROFESSIONAL REFERRALS
The Override Method® is available as a private referral option for lawyers, mediators and other professionals working with women whose clarity and decision-making are being affected by emotional pressure in family or separation matters.
If the pattern described here is familiar from your own work, the Professional Referral Information sheet explains:
-
The scope and boundaries of the work
-
Who the work may be appropriate for
-
How professional referrals are handled
-
The session structure and fee
-
What you may reasonably look for afterwards when deciding whether the work has been useful
